Artist in residence

Register

Residency Standplaats Vlieland This residency is open to all forms of visual arts, with a preference for artists working on an installation in public space. Having a concrete plan for collaboration with an art institution in the Wadden Sea region will be considered an advantage.

Artists must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Mondriaan Fund for residencies:
• The artist has been working as a professional visual artist for at least one year and is registered with the Chamber of Commerce,
or
• The artist has completed at least three years of higher education in visual arts and has been working as a professional visual artist for a minimum of one year,
or
• The artist has been working as a professional visual artist for three years or longer.

Work Period There are two residency spots available for a work period of up to three months in 2025. This period may be divided into multiple shorter stays if needed. The residency will take place between March 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.

Compensation A work stipend of €2,165 per month is provided to cover expenses such as travel, materials, and other costs. This amount is fixed and applies to one artist per residency. In principle, no additional funding is available for duos or other collaborative partnerships. Additionally, selected residents are expected to contribute 10% of the residency costs themselves. For residents based in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the stipend may be increased to help cover potentially higher travel expenses; this will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

One-Week Work Periods In addition, there are four short work periods of one week available for artists who are in the final execution phase of their project and have already secured an agreement for the presentation of their work. No stipends or compensation are provided for these short residencies.
